Lacey and I went to Parivar for lunch. Lacey had a masala dosa (filled with potatoes) and I had spring idli (flavored with cabbage, carrots, peppers and cilantro). Too good! We nearly finished our plates, which would have been a first. We managed to stop about 2/3 of the way through, so one person will have a nice meal with the food we brought home.
We had shopping to do, also. Mango pickle was at the top of the list. Thought I’d end up with a jar of Bedekar’s, but Parivar was selling house made mango pickle in the cafe. A pint for $4. Came in a plastic take away container, so I transferred it to a jar at home.
Very fresh tasting. No challenging notes. Oily, salty, sour goodness. Cost a bit more than I remember Bedekar’s costing, but since it is maybe twelve times better, I think we got a huge bargain (like everything from their cafe). If this were sold at a farmer’s market or the co-op, I think $8 would be about right. So get to Parivar, already!
Bye.
