Why so Happy

Big blocks of time.  I worked, played Scrabble, walked, lunched, shoveled snow three times (and expect to again), read,  listened to the hifi and sat.

Little things, too.  Coming into a house filled with incense and warmth.  Watching a dog watch snow fall.  Lacey calling to say she’s bound for home (a promise), then pulling into the drive (a gift).  Publishing a post with a happy old picture.

  1. Randy, what is that on your back?? It looks like a duct taped, cardboard, not-so-geodesic, dome??? Or possibly the most recent thing to hit the Homeless Man Fashion world

    • Thanks for writing! Hope you are well. The work is that of an artist friend of ours, Eric Von Robertson. You’ve hit the nail on the head. It is a boulder on a backpack, intended to be donned when out of doors and then, due to its size, prevent you from entering doorways (preventing you from going inside). We hiked it to a grassy hill, unpinned it from the backpack frame and videoed us chucking it down the hill. Robust, but not surprising, as Eric has mad skillz.

  2. Greetings, Mr. Putnam!
Your short and sweet post made me smile.
Though I am not as ardent an admirer of bicycles and bicycle riding as yourself, I sure am a passionate lover of the outdoors and some beautiful sunshine. It’s more like Bicycle riding and allied activities. 🙂
And I loved this “happy old picture” you have put. The shades of life on the tree are absolutely breathtaking!
I look forward to reading more of your posts.
    Have a wonderful New Year!

    Affectionately,
